Blink-182: This exclusive concert for MTV U.K. and with MCA Records was held at VPS Studios in Hollywood, California to promote the U.K. release of their new album, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket. After their producer told them they needed some “feel-good” songs on the record, Mark Hoppus (bass and vocals) went home that night and wrote “The Rock Show.” On the very same evening, Tom DeLonge (guitar and vocals) wrote another hit, “First Date.” These two songs, in addition to the band’s first #1 hit, “All the Small Things,” were performed in front of a live studio audience.• The album was a huge success, debuting at #1 and selling more than 350,000 copies in its first week on the U.S. Billboard 200.

 

• This is the third studio album by the American pop punk band

• “The Rock Show” was the most successful song on the album peaking at #2 on the Modern Rock Tracks (Alternative Singles), reaching #71 on the Billboard Hot 100 (Singles), and #14 on the U.K. Singles Chart

• “First Date” peaked at #6 on the Modern Rock Tracks (Alternative Singles), #106 on the Billboard Hot 100 (Singles), and #31 on the U.K. Singles Chart
