Carol Burnett: A Women of Character

American Masters: Carol Burnett: A Woman of Character, a documentary that profiles the life and career of American comedienne and actress Carol Burnett. One in a series of evenings and special screenings this evening. After acknowledging Harvey Korman and Tim Conway in the audience, the panelists touch on such topics as: what inspired the charwoman character on Burnett's variety show, and why Burnett never cared for her, the process of putting together a typical "Carol Burnett Show", how Burnett's ensemble cast came together, Burnett being a recurring celebrity guest on the "Password" game show, why she called an end to her variety show, what motivated Burnett to take part in the 1975 PBS special "Drink, Drank, Drunk"; and if Burnett has enjoyed her comedic turns on "Mad About You" and "Desperate Housewives."
